Background on the video:
I was hired to teach a 12 week after school filmmaking program for 1st-5th graders at Rio Vista Elementary. I used a team-based, collaborative hands-on approach to teach the fundamentals of filmmaking and animation.  Our goal was to get accepted in this year’s Palm Springs Unified School District film festival called DigiCom.  We won “Best of the Fest”.
 
Palm Springs Unified School District hosted its Second Annual DigiCom Student and Teacher Film Festival on May 4 to celebrate the best videos and films made in all K-12 schools of PSUSD. The DigiCom project was established to encourage students and teachers to apply 21st century skills to the creation and publishing of video productions that demonstrate student mastery of academic content standards, support community projects, and promote responsible citizenship.
